TRASH DAYS CHANGING

The City of Tucson is changing a majority of days for trash and recycling. Now you can forget to roll out your containers on a different day.
Here's the news release from the city:
RESIDENTIAL TRASH AND RECYCLING COLLECTION SCHEDULE TO CHANGE Beginning Monday, November 10, 2008, approximately 54% of city residents will have their day of service changed for trash and recycling collection. The City's Environmental Services Department will implement a five-day-a-week schedule in place of the current six-day schedule. The new schedule only affects residents and commercial customers who have plastic trash or recycling containers. Due to route changes, any customer’s time of collection may change. Customers with metal dumpsters will not be affected. The new schedule will result in increased customer service and increased efficiency of collection vehicles and staff. This change will eliminate Saturday collection except when there is a holiday. During holiday weeks, customers will have their collection delayed by one day if their collection day falls on or after the holiday. “The new schedule allows us to accomplish some specific goals,” said Andrew H. Quigley, Director of Environmental Services. "We will be operating our fleet with increased efficiency which means we’ll serve our customers better." Outreach to customers began October 1, 2008. A bill insert with the new collection schedule map and holiday collection schedule is being mailed to all ES customers along with their Utility Services bill. Additionally, those customers who will have their collection day changed will receive a door hanger notifying them of their new day. All information related to the change is available on the Environmental Services website at www.tucsonaz.gov/esd including an address lookup tool. Customers can also call ES Customer Service at 791-3171.
Environmental Services has a nifty feature that lets you type in your address and see you new pickup day (if it has changed). You can get to that portion of the website here.
