A DAY WITHOUT E-MAIL

Many people try to get away from it, but can't. However, when it's not your choice to be away from e-mail, it can be quite frustrating. That was the case at Arizona Public Media early Friday morning, until early Saturday morning.

A power failure crippled most systems (including this web site), but those problems were fixed rather quickly. The e-mail problem, however, continued for more than 24 hours.

Our IT guy Cheech (no, he doesn't look like Cheech Marin of "Cheech and Chong" fame) said the problem required much more than a mere reboot, since the system didn't shutdown properly and things got whacked.

He assures us mail wasn't lost, but if you sent something to us during that time, you might want to double-check to make sure it actually arrived. Things are looking good this morning and all of the usual must-delete spam is coming in again, so I guess things are just the way we expect them to be.
