Skateboarders can be a difficult group to appreciate if you’ve never skated. Seen from a distance, a band of kids in skinny-leg pants, beanies, and black hoodies does not seem to inspire confidence among visitors to the struggling downtown urban environments. However, many skaters will point out that it’s unfair to make generalizations about a group of people based on the actions of a few. They argue that skating is a demanding sport that requires perseverance, skill, and talent and they say that all they want is to be able to practice without fear of being harassed by The Man. Now Tucson Parks and Rec has completed the latest safe-haven for skaters, and it seems that the project has been met with positive reactions.
