WELLNESS WEEK-PROMOTING HEALTH AT UOFA
Many people understand the benefits of exercise, but it seems as a whole our society still leaves room for improvement when it comes to the number of people that regularly engage in physical activities. Jody Liller is the marketing coordinator for the U of A Campus Recreation Center, and she says that “about 30 percent of Arizonans participate in activities and I think this is reflected in the University Community as well.”
Liller points out that managing the stress in our daily lives is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She also says that one of the best ways to mitigate stress is by engaging in some sort of regular physical activity. “It’s so important as a preventative measure -- stress is one of the biggest causes of disease and even death.”
Beginning Monday the UofA Campus Rec Center is sponsoring Wellness Week. The event is free and open to the entire university community, and includes activities to help people reduce stress, and understand how they can benefit from regular exercise.
Liller says that Wellness Week is intended as “an initiative to promote long-term health and wellness,” and she hopes that people will take advantage of the many free activities.
