Cue Sheet – August 15th, 2005

BIRTH OF A BLOG

As if the world needed another blowhard imposing his unsolicited opinions on an uncaring world, I offer you Cue Sheet, a blog about classical radio, music and arts in Tucson, Arizona, as well as other things that may tickle my fancy.
Cue Sheet will include various thoughts that spring to mind regarding life at KUAT-FM, where I'm the weekday morning announcer and which hosts this blog as part of its Web site; comments on music and culture significantly expanded from what I do on air; reviews of some new CDs that cross my path; teasers and links to articles and reviews of mine that appear elsewhere (see the "Me, Elsewhere" list at right); alerts regarding my various nefarious activities around town; maybe mini-articles spun off from work I do for various publications with tidbits I can't otherwise fit in (like noting that Gene Drucker of the Emerson Quartet told me several months ago that he's nursing a herniated disc, which could eventually affect the group's activities); and gossip and so forth.
One element I think will be very important in localizing the blog, and providing a real service in Tucson, is reviewing live performances from time to time. The local dailies aren't covering classical music in a competent manner at all, and I have a track record as a critic, first covering classical music for the Arizona Daily Star, and for the past several years covering mostly theater for the Tucson Weekly.
As time goes by, tell me what you think by clicking the address link on the right.
For now, stop wasting time on the Internet (like me) and do something productive.

quodlibet,
