Sure, Arizona Public Media is known for all those things, but we're now branching out into something else, to create a new niche in the community.
Perhaps you watched this week's premiere of In Tune, which focuses on the local music scene. Now that the show is over, it doesn't mean our commitment to showcasing local music talent ends. Another show may be in the works and extra content lives on our website. You can get more info, read producer Luis Carrion's blog and even download some exclusive tunes on our site. Yes, it is legal, as the artists have given us permission to share their music. Isn't that nice?
You can find all the goodies at our special In Tune page, which has just been updated. If you visited that link from my previous blog, head back there for more info.
Are you a fan of musicians from Southern Arizona? If so, AZPM has a special show for you. It's called In Tune and it premieres this Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
You can learn about the show here and you can hear an interview with host Katherine Byrnes here.
There's a lot going on today and I have that in headline form for you. Sure, we're known for depth, but sometimes brevity is just as good. Here are some highlights from my Twitter account.
Catch these updates and more by "following me" at the link below. If you think this embedded feature is useful to the AZPM site, please leave a comment.
Admittedly, not every topic or story is "blog worthy," but sometimes 140 words or less can sum up a thought. That's where Twitter comes in. It's a great way to follow breaking news or find out what's coming up on a newscast I'm preparing.
Here are the latest headlines I'm posting on Twitter:
Did anyone think that maybe this iPhone app wasn't such a good idea?
There may be plenty of seemingly useless iPhone apps for sale (iBeer, anyone?), but Apple’s vetting process for approving new applications from developers came under scrutiny in the case of a 99-cent app called Baby Shaker that simulated the shaking of an infant.
The game was developed by a company called Sikalosoft, and featured illustrations of a baby whose eyes would become covered in red X’s when the iPhone is shaken vigorously, and featured the tag line: “On a plane, on the bus, in a theater. Babies are everywhere you don’t want them to be! They’re always distracting you from preparing for that big presentation at work with their incessant crying. Before Baby Shaker there was nothing you could do about it. See how long you can endure his or her adorable cries before you just have to find a way to quiet the baby down!”
An El Paso reporter on a police beat was asking some questions, when things turned ugly with one officer. Watch the video and tell us what you think. Who went too far?
